When you think about it, Lake Tahoe is a Great Basin Lake. The Sierra Nevada rises behind the west shore of the lake, and the eastern shore is comprised of the Carson Range. As such, these marvelous Lenticular clouds form when downslope winds carry moisture laden air over the desert forming a series of oscillating waves. All that is to say when the conditions are right we get these otherworldly clouds stacking up over the eastern side of the lake. Photo © copyright by Michael Ambrose.
Metal Prints
The Photograph is developed onto a thin sheet of aluminum using a process called Dye Sublimation. This fantastic process yields a rich glossy print that is incredibly resistant to scratching, and cleanable using normal glass cleaner. The piece appears to "float" on the wall thanks to a subframe. Beautiful, rich and durable, these are the most popular presentation for my larger pieces. Available in sizes up to 8 feet on the long edge.
