Canyon Light on the Merced River
Yosemite National Park
Where the Merced River exits the park, nature has carved out an immensely deep canyon. As morning light moves down the canyon in the morning, the Merced River will pick up the glow, resulting in a "River of Light" in the otherwise still shady valley floor. The Merced River is so incredibly beautiful as it winds its way west, that I sometimes think it should have been included in the National Park. But there is something to be said for how quiet and peaceful it is here as it is now. Photo © copyright by Michael Ambrose.
